A single-camera synthetic Schlieren method for the measurement of free liquid surfaces

چکیده

A single-camera synthetic Schlieren method is introduced to measure the height of a dynamic free liquid surface in container with flat bottom. Markers placed on bottom, seen through surface, are virtually displaced due light refraction at surface. According Snell’s law, marker displacements depend refractive indices transparent and air, its spatial gradients. We solve resulting governing nonlinear equation Newton–Raphson obtain height. Our does not require reference height, which allows measurement surfaces topography situations where depth unknown. demonstrate accuracy by performing experiments ripples dam-break flows discuss uncertainty, errors limitations.

investigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures

deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...

A method for bubble volume measurement under constant flow conditions in gas–liquid two-phase flow

Measuring the volume of a bubble, especially at its detachment, is a basic subject in gas-liquid two-phase flow research. A new indirect method for this measurement under constant flow conditions is presented. An electronic device is designed and constructed based on laser beam intensity. This device calculates the frequency of the bubble formation by measuring the total time of the formation p...

Optimization of a Dispersive Liquid-Liquid Microextration Method for Analysis of Chlorpyrifos in Urine Using the Chemometrics Method

Aims: The use of simple, low cost, high -efficiency extraction methods for sample preparation in the forensic toxicology has been considered. Nowadays, the chemometrics technique can be used to determine the influencing factors on the response to optimize extraction methods. The aim of this study was to design and optimize a dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (DLLME) method for extraction...

Whole-field density measurements by `synthetic schlieren'

This paper outlines novel techniques for producing qualitative visualisations of density ̄uctuations and for obtaining quantitative whole-®eld density measurements in two-dimensional density-strati®ed ̄ows. These techniques, which utilise image processing technology, are much simpler to set up than the classical schlieren and interferometry methods, and provide useful information in situations ...
